Platform for Progress

Building on the strong foundation of our public schools, we must continue to be innovative, responsive, and strategic. Strong schools are the heart of safe and thriving communities, and our investment in education strengthens opportunities for every family. These four pillars of progress reflect my commitment to sustaining excellence while preparing every student to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

St. Vrain Valley School District committments and vision

Fostering Academic Excellence & Innovation

Invest in a world-class education by equipping our teachers with innovative resources and strategies to meet every student's unique learning needs

  • Build on SVVSD’s 94.3% graduation rate, the highest among Colorado’s 10 largest districts, by ensuring every student has a pathway to success.
  • Ensure academic success for multilingual learners by strengthening dual-language programs and providing targeted support for students and families.
  • Ensure early literacy intervention through the READ Act, providing K-3 teachers with district-led training to ensure all students are reading proficiently.
  • Advance equitable access to Gifted & Talented services through targeted staff training and strong family engagement, unlocking every student's potential.
  • Expand hands-on programming in aerospace, biosciences, business, engineering, leadership, and the arts through focus schools, the Innovation Center, and the Career Elevation & Technology Center.
  • Champion the implementation and evolution of the district’s ETHOS AI framework to empower teachers, teach responsible digital citizenship, and protect student data privacy.

Ensuring Safe & Respectful Schools

Champion learning environments where every student feels safe, respected, and valued, and where differences are celebrated as opportunities for growth

  • Uphold and fund comprehensive safety plans, ensuring every school is fully equipped and trained for emergencies through the Standard Response Protocol.
  • Prioritize student well-being by increasing mental health staff to meet the state’s recommended 250:1 student-to-provider ratio.
  • Promote critical safety tools like the 24/7 Safe2Tell reporting system, empowering students to be partners in maintaining a safe environment.
  • Champion the continued success of Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All program, ensuring no student’s learning is hindered by hunger.
  • Foster a culture of respect by supporting inclusivity and restorative practices training, ensuring schools are welcoming for every student and family.
  • Strengthen partnerships between parents, educators, and the community to ensure our schools remain collaborative and focused on student success.

Creating Pathways to Opportunity

Strengthen multiple pathways to success, from rigorous college-prep courses to career and technical programs like P-TECH, to ensure every graduate is ready for a productive future

  • Expand our nationally-recognized P-TECH programs, which provide students with free associate degrees and direct connections to high-wage careers.
  • Increase access to Advanced Placement, IB, and concurrent enrollment, saving families millions in college tuition and preparing students for college-level work.
  • Foster community continuity and address teacher shortages by investing in our P-TEACH "grow-your-own" pipeline, which prepares our own students to become our future educators.
  • Oversee 2024 bond-funded construction, including a new Career Technical Education (CTE) facility to expand skilled trades training in construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and technology.

Planning for Smart Growth & Fiscal Responsibility

Proactively plan for community growth and secure education funding, while being a strong advocate for our district at the state level

  • Responsibly steward the 2024 bond, passed with 74% voter support, to deliver new schools and career-tech facilities on time and on budget, with no tax rate increase.
  • Partner with community leaders, business owners, parents, teachers and elected officials to gather input on school district priorities and build and maintain community engagement.
  • Plan strategically for growth by using data-driven enrollment projections to build new schools where they are needed, preventing overcrowded classrooms.
  • Guarantee fiscal transparency by ensuring the district’s $663.2 million budget is publicly accessible and aligned with student-focused priorities.
  • Protect taxpayer dollars by continuing the district’s smart practice of refinancing debt, which has already saved our community over $82 million.
  • Navigate Colorado’s new funding formula with disciplined oversight, ensuring stable funding for our classrooms and protecting our district’s financial health.

These goals are achievable with community support and strategic implementation. Join me in creating an education system that prepares every student for success.
